STROLLER RUNNING TIPS
Stroller Running Tips
Maybe you hate treadmill running, maybe you don't have a babysitter for you runs, or maybe you just want a KILLER workout that'll leave you breathless(& feeling like a BOSS), whatever the case may be, sometimes running with your little one is inevitable. Here's how to make it bearable(& maybe even fun?!), let's get to it!
1. Throw speed out the window, Focus on FORM:
Although I've been passed many times during a race by boss-mom stroller runners, I'm sure it took them work to get there. When you run with a stroller forget about speed, focus on your form instead. Head high, running tall, pick those toes up off the ground! Stroller running is HARD, and you'll probably run slower, so this is a great time to work on form or breathing techniques. Don't worry about your speed, you are awesome for even trying!
2. Invest in a click-connect stroller system:
It's been recommended not to run with babies under 6 months in regular jogging strollers, as younger babies do not have good head control. BUT if you have a younger baby & still want to run, I would suggest buying a click-connect stroller and car seat, this is when the car seat simply clicks into the stroller. Younger babies will be supported and have a smoother ride!
3. Run during baby's naps:
I always try to run during Case's longest nap in the morning, he loves being in the stroller! I've never had any trouble, but if you do, I would suggest slowly getting your baby used to the stroller by walking with them first and then easing into running. If you have an older baby who doesn't nap as much, I would bring some of their favorite toys or even snacks along! Be prepared to stop along the way. Babies cry, you already know this! It's just part of the adventure! ;)
4. Wait 20 minutes after baby has digested food to run:
Trust me on this one, haha.
That's all for today friends! Marathon training with Case is not easy, but I wouldn't trade it!
I can't believe my little running buddy is almost 3 MONTHS old, say what?! Time flies when you're having fun! ;)
I ordered my Graco stroller on sale at Walmart for 100$!! It's discontinued now, but they still have plenty of Click-Connect options!
