HOW I FIT FITNESS INTO MY LIFE

How I fit fitness into my life.

Hey y'all!

So before I even start this post, I'm going to go ahead and put a quick disclaimer on it: this post is how I fit fitness/healthy living into my life. Every home life/work life is different, meaning how you fit healthy living into your lifestyle will be specific to you. This post is just some helpful tips & tricks for how I do my life and all that fun stuff, k? :)

I get asked all the time how I find the time and most of all the motivation to workout and be healthy. The simple answer is this, I find easy ways to incorporate exercise and yummy healthy foods into my daily life! Side note: I am NOT perfect, I live by the motto "everything in moderation" and never say no to the piece of cake or ice cream cone on occasion! That being said, I do make sure certain things get done so I don't spiral out of control. So here's some tips and tricks for how I do it!

1. Being Flexible

Everyone who has kids knows:we only have so many hours in the day. Long complicated workouts or long runs without distractions just don't happen anymore. Got 15 minutes? Do some jumping jacks, squats, and pushups! Got 20 minutes? Go for a stroller run! Cooking dinner? Dance around the kitchen with your kids to some Disney music. Really, it's all about fitting exercise into your life. So make it fun! When you day gets derailed and you don't get that 30 minute workout in you were planning-don't get discouraged! Just mix it up! Even a stroller walk after dinner amounts to something.

2. Planning

I know, I know. I just said be flexible previously. But honestly, if you want to live healthier and workout, you have to make it a priority. This might mean meal prepping, or knowing your schedule for the week so you can plan workouts around it.

3. Find the time that's best for you

My son is napping less now that he's older, but when he was smaller, I'd workout during his naps. Now, I workout during his screen time or take him on a stroller run for my easier runs. Seriously, don't feel bad about utilizing screen time for your toddler or even your baby. My son loves him some baby bum or Disney! And honestly, our limit a day for Case is 30 minutes of screen time, is that going to kill him or turn his brain to mush while I have some peace and get my 30 minute workout in? N O P E! Get rid of the mom guilt! Sometimes I'll put together a sensory activity for him as well or let him color while he listens to music. He loves it! When he was smaller (aka when he didn't weigh 30 pounds), I would use him as a human dumbbell(sounds funnier than it is) and workout with him! If none of this sounds good to you, try working out before your kids wake up or after they go to bed. In the end, you have to make time for it. The more excuses you make, the less you'll do. You have to want it, so get moving mama!

That's it guys! I hope this was helpful for you! Just remember healthy living should be a lifestyle, not a crash diet or exercise fad. Do workouts that you love and can keep up consistently. Running is my passion so obviously I make time for it to have in my life. The more you do something, the more of a habit it becomes! This parenting gig is hard, so whether you include your kids or let it be your "me" time, just make it fun and get that heart thumping! You deserve it!
