WINTER BLESSINGS

Winter Blessings.

It's no secret that I loathe winter.

After December, I'm done with it. It can pack up and bring me back summer flowers and golden sunshine.

But since I live in a state where winter is inevitable at least 3 months of the year, I've got to deal with it. So in order to not hermit back into my seasonal depression like I usually do during these months, I've started a gratitude journal. I write in it every morning, no excuses, 10 things I am grateful for that day. & really, there's no excuse not to do it, because not surprisingly, I have more than oodles of things to be thankful for!

So in light of that, today I thought I would drag myself out of being droopy every time I look out the window to dead trees to describe 10 things I'm thankful for during winter.

You can share in the comments what makes you thankful during wintertime as well!

1. Greenery & plants.
Winter makes me thankful for any type of evergreen. The way the snow falls on them is just enchanting, not to mention they give pops of color when everything else has already died & fallen away.

            2. Frost & snow make everything more beautiful as well, & the cold easier to bear!

3. Natural light & candles
I open up every shade I can in the mornings when I wake up, &  light every candle I can find. It just makes me feel more awake and present, despite the gloomy weather.

4. Warm drinks
Hot chocolate, coffee, tea, you name it. If it's below fifty degrees outside, I have a warm mug in my hands.

                                                         5. Time spent with family
Staying inside playing games, cuddling up with the hubby & watching tv(right now it's                  Downton abbey..) these are moments I'm thankful for. <3

                                                              6. An excuse to bake
It's a major pick-me-up for me. All the warmth & good smells that fill the house! I love trying new recipes & making chili's & soups too, they taste so much better when it's cold outside!

                                                 7. Time for personal reflection
Winter is just a quiet time. More time spent inside means reading a good book or devoting more time to Bible study & personal reflection. I love this time because it makes me feel more connected to God as well as my emotions.

So there you have it.

Thanks for stopping by lovelies! <3 What are your winter blessings?
