DIY LAVENDER HONEY SOAP
DIY Lavender honey soap!
Hello friends!
As some of my readers know, I LOVE DIYs! I absolutely love making things that can be useful around the house, if you have any great DIYs, hit me up in the comments!
So today I'm going to show you one of my favorite recipes for...(drum-roll please) Lavender honey soap! After pinterest-ing (that isn't a word but I don't care, haha) for a few days, I found a few pretty amazing soap recipes to try. While I don't remember the original recipe I found, I've sort of fine-tuned this one to what works for me!!
So here we go!
Things you will need:
1. 1 lb. of goats milk melt & pour soap base (I use Our Earth's Secrets, found on Amazon, it usually comes in 2 lb. packs but today I'm only making a 1/2 batch so you'll only need 1 lb.)
2. 1/2 cup-1 cup of cornmeal (Makes soap really great for scrubbing! You can add more or less to preference.)
3. 8-15 drops of Lavender essential oil (This is based on preference as well, I use the full 15 drops for a stronger smell! :) )
4. 2 Tbsp of honey
5. Dried lavender, dried rose/flower petals (Optional)
6. Soap silicone mold ( I found 2 molds on Amazon for a great deal, Amazon is my friend as you can tell ;) )
7. Microwave safe bowl for melting soap base.
Today I am making a 1/2 batch because that is just what works for me but you can try whatever! Usually a 1/2 batch makes 5 bars of soap.
STEPS:
1. Melt soap base. I usually cut my chunk of soap base into smaller pieces to melt easier in the microwave. Be sure to stir the bowl occasionally to avoid it running over or burning!
2. Add cornmeal. I stir this in immediately with a whisk, it cools it down a little as well before you add the essential oil.
3. Add Lavender essential oil.
4. Add honey, this makes it smell DELICIOUS!
5. Add dried lavender or petals, (Optional)
6. Be sure to thoroughly mix all ingredients before you pour base into mold. And be sure it hasn't cooled too much before you pour, this will make your soap bars clumpy. You want to pour before the mixture starts sticking to the sides of the bowl.
7. Let your bars cool in the silicone molds overnight or at least 8-9 hours. Then you can pop them out and voila! You have your very own homemade soap! This recipe is perfect for gifts as well!
Thanks for reading my lovely sunflowers! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
